Milestones for 2-3 months


What most children do at this age:  2-3 months

Self-care

·Eats 6-8 meals
·Naps 3 or more times per day
·Begins to calm self briefly (such as bringing hands to mouth)
·Recognizes bottle/breast
·Needs lots of physical contact
·Opens mouth for food

Social and Play Skills 


·Eyes can track an object to right and left past midline
·Social smile
·Responds to you shaking  rattle

Communication Skills

·Cries when upset
·Cooing
·Makes happy noises

Motor Skills  (heading on the webpage,  etc)

·Tracks moving faces/objects with eyes
·Inspects own hands and brings hands to midline
·Turns side to back
·Tries to hold head up
·Lifts head up and turns it side to side while on his stomach

·Doesn’t bring hands to mouth
·Doesn’t respond to loud sounds
·Can’t hold head up when pushing up when on tummy
·Doesn’t smile at people
·Doesn’t watch things as they move
·Doesn't properly latch onto bottle or breast when feeding
