What most children do at this age:  9 months

Self-Care Skills
·Eats 4-5 meals per day
·Naps 2 times per day 
·Finger feeds
·Puts things in his mouth
·Investigates objects with vision, touch, taste
·Shows increased tolerance to various social situations



Social and Play Skills
·Demonstrates likes/dislikes for people/objects/places
·Points to desired objects
·Plays pat-a-cake and/or peek-a-boo
·May be afraid of strangers
·Has a favorite toy, plays 2-3 minutes with a toy
·Begins to look for things that are hidden



Communication Skills
·Says “dada mama”
·Imitate gestures and sounds
·Understands “no”

Motor Skills
·Transfers an object from one hand to the other hand
·Retains 2 objects, one in each hand
·Rakes her hand to pick up small objects 
·Claps
·Waves bye
·Rolls from back to stomach 
·Sits independently
·Crawls
·Pulls to stand
·Transitions from sitting upright down to his stomach
·Begins to point at things
·Reaches with one hand
·Bears weight on her hands while on her stomach and reaches for an object with other hand
·Bounces on legs in standing with adult support
